Aphids are indeed a common pest affecting ornamental plants, and their presence can lead to significant damage if not managed properly. These small, soft-bodied insects typically gather in large numbers on the undersides of leaves and the tender shoots of plants, where they feed on plant sap. This feeding can result in stunted growth, yellowing leaves, and the transmission of plant diseases.

In addition to directly harming the plants, aphids excrete a sugary substance known as honeydew, which can encourage the growth of sooty mold and attract other pests such as ants. The susceptibility and widespread presence of aphids in various ornamental plant species make them a primary concern for landscapers and gardeners. Understanding their life cycle and signs of infestation is essential for effective management and ensuring the health and aesthetics of ornamental landscapes.
